Does anyone know the name of the man who saved Hernan Cortes's life?

I remember my history teacher telling me that one of this soldiers pushed Cortes out of the way of the marauding Aztecs, enabling him to get away to safety while the soldier himself was killed. Any ideas? It's driving me crazy, I can't find it anywhere.
